I left the homestead, heading for Cleveland. As I got near the outer-belt I-277, I wondered if I should skip my usual loop around Akron, or drive straight into the city. At that moment WONE-FM played "In The City" by Joe Walsh. That kind of coincidence often leads us to follow what the coincidence tells us. I had a pleasant drive through Akron. I warmly associate Joe Walsh's music with the years I lived in Akron and Kent. Massillon, too.

The Barack Epoch has begun!

When I got off work on election night, I drove past my street, to the church. I often drive there after midnight once Election Day is over, to pick up political signs. There were a handful of  DENNIS!  signs and all the "down-ballot" candidates. Update on Dennis. The Republicans in Ohio used possibly illegal redistricting to squeeze out Kucinich. Similar Republican controlled states have lost this battle in court. But there was only one "Obama Biden" sign remaining. There had been dozens of "Obama Biden" signs up and down the tree lawns for blocks when I left for work yesterday afternoon. I drove past a few other places where I had seen dozens of Obama signs. By night there were none anywhere. None at the library. None at the bank branch tree lawn where there were at least 20. People had snagged them all.

I had a very cool dream the morning of Election Day. I was living in a clean little apartment, in a building near downtown Cleveland. I left the apartment, walking down the hallway to it's doorway into the main building. This was a multi-story, beautiful, architecturally fascinating group of art museums, stores, restaurants, and the transportation hub known in real life as "Tower City." In real life, the Regional Transit Authority hub is underneath the Terminal Tower, at Public Square.

I strolled around the wide immaculate marble hallways, stopping to look at the numerous works of Public Art. There were sculptures, installations, kiosks, like the real artwork everywhere in Japan. This dream was my wishful thinking that Cleveland could build a space that was architecturally pure, inviting, populated. In the dream I looked at a map on the info-wall, of the immediate area. My building was: to the immediate south and east of Terminal Tower.

In my dream, the building I was living in was called

"The Lotus Building."

I began to wake up, and peeped my eyes open, looked at the ceiling, and realized I was not in my Lotus Building. I was in the home I own. Slightly disappointed, I consoled myself. "At least this is mine." I was delighted that I remembered the name of the building. "Lotus." I swear I had no idea what "Lotus flower" meant. So I Googled it.

This is courtesy Ezinearticles.com:

Lotus flowers are amazing and have strong symbolic ties to many Asian religions especially throughout India. The lotus flower starts as a small flower down at the bottom of a pond in the mud and muck. It slowly grows up towards the waters surface continually moving towards the light. Once it has come to the surface of the water the lotus flower begins to blossom and turns into a beautiful flower.

Within Hinduism and Buddhism the lotus flower has become a symbol for awakening to the spiritual reality of life. The meaning varies slightly between the two religions of course but essentially both religious traditions place importance on the lotus flower.

Post Script. The Lotus is the  flower that rises from the scum and inspires millions of people.

I am not sure why I dreamed that a resurgence in Cleveland was represented by "The Lotus Building."

I have never read about Lotus flowers.

I have never heard anyone talk about Lotus flowers. When I woke from that dream, the only thing I knew about Lotus flowers was that the word was written on the wall of The Lotus Building in my dream.
